But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Thoughts for the day...

God is no longer in the business of revealing new doctrine... Everything that God seeks to reveal about Himself and His purposes can be found in the complete and comprehensive revelation of Scripture.

While we often wish that we had what the OT believers had, I think they probably would have wanted what we have- personal access to the voice of God. OT believers had to rely on prophets and visible signs to discern God's voice, because the Scriptures weren't yet complete, and they didn't have continuous access to the Holy Spirit. We have what they never could have hoped for- direct contact with God Himself. This is the primary way God wants to lead His children now, and we should rely on it.

If we seak to hear from God in sensational ways, we will miss out on the most personal means of communication possible with our great God. The most spectacular way God has ever spoken to His people is occuring right now- through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. God saved the most intimate and marvelous means of communication just for us!
